Put vanila extrcat and creamer and sugar, and put some hot chocolate mix in the coffee too! use the frother or whipped cream on top, and sprinkle hot chocolate mix and cinnomin sugar on top! I never have a recepi, i just put in what sounds good, and do a taste test to see what else it needs.....ok now i need some coffee!!!!!!!

Office Coffee Maker: Can you draw hot water from the tap during the brewing period?

This is a huge source of debate in my office. We have a Bunn office coffee maker, the kind that is hooked up to the water line (you don't have to fill it). Whenever coffee is brewing, everyone says you CANNOT draw any water from the hot water tap on the front of the machine. Is this true? Why wouldn't you be able to brew coffee and still get water from the tap? I could understand if you had to fill the water yourself and maybe there is a finite amount of water needed for the pot but it doesn't make sense that a commercial coffee maker couldn't handle that?

Yes, you would be able to get hot water any time. Some people insist that the water from the tap won't be quite as hot while coffee is brewing, but I have yet to find that this is true.

Go ahead and get your water from the tap...I guarantee that you will find out that you will come out the winner in this debate.

A light roasted coffee is roasted for a shorter period of time, and it will have more flavor characteristics from the region that it is grown in. Light roasts are for coffee drinkers who want more specific flavors and characteristics within their brew, native to the region that the beans were grown in. Oftentimes, the coffee drinkers that choose a darker roast are not focusing necessarily on where the beans came from but the flavors that the roasting process provided as a result.

The lightest roasted Java available is called the City Roast, and the beans will normally look light or medium brown. These beans are roasted after the first crack in the roasting process, and the second lightest roast, Full City Roast, will be roasted until the second crack.

Yes, I do...and I think it's a great food, for two reasons...first of all, compared to foods available at the grocery, it's healthier.

I have also been feeding science diet kitten, but only because my new kitten won't eat the nutro- go figure!
I also feed the adult formula of the same thing to my other
cats.

A coffee press, as mentioned looks like a very simple device, basically like a coffee maker carafe with a rod down the center connected to a round filter. The filter via the rod can be moved from the top to the bottom of the glass carafe, this allows you to separate the coffee grounds from the water.

Of course any device has it's pros and cons, a coffee press is no different. A die hard coffee fan will surely appreciate the rich flavor textured coffee it produces. Not to mention it doesn't require any paper filters. Of course there is a downside, coffee from a press should be drank almost immediately to really take advantage of the flavor, also there can be some sediment left at the bottom of your cub due to the coarse grounds that are used. Some believe that the sediment that is left can cause your cup to go bitter.

All in all a coffee press is the original way to make a cup of coffee. While things have changed greatly due to technology, it's still a standard for many. Of course an electric machine is faster and easier to use, it doesn't produce the same exquisite taste found from a press. For those that are looking for a time saving option in the morning for their coffee, stick with your auto drip machine, but if you're looking for that all natural wonderfully brewed cup of joe consider a press, even if it's just for the weekends.

Wow, talk about your loaded questions...
There are many many people that will definitely state that a french press beats a Bunn for taste. I do not know how you would ever rate a French Press water temp vs a Bunn that actually has a heater in it.

Ok, so... French press is basically a container with a wire mesh plunger that you push down and separate the coffee from the grounds. Water temp would be strictly up to you.

As far as cleaning, the French Press is just a container and a wire mesh plunger. Simple rinse out could suffice if you don't care about spots. There again, the Bunn is a rinse out (pot) and a dump (filter and grinds) although every 6 months (or less with hard water) you would have to flush and decalcify the machine where the french press you would not.

Now on to the other part of your question... Strength of brew.
With the Bunn (excellent machine I may add) the tem p is controlled nicely BUT the water flows through the grinds and each portion of water only touches the grinds for a small period of time. With the French Press the grinds are floating in the water for the whole period of time allowing each portion of water to absorb the flavor from each and every ground. While the Bunn makes one of the best tasting DRIP coffees, by simple design of a drip machine it cannot hope to extract as much flavor as a French Press.

My suggestion is to actually BUY a French Press ($15 at Target) and then do a taste test comparison side by side with a Bunn. Same beans, grind, etc... and see what YOU think, because that is ultimately the person you have to please.

Its a 6-cup stove top espresso maker but I need to know how much water per how much coffee for each "shot" of espresso.

First off, realize that a 6-cup espresso maker, means that it makes 6 tiny cups of espresso (not 6 full 8 oz cups).

If you just want to make regular coffee, fill it up with water, and use 2 to 4 tablespoons of ground coffee.

If you want espresso, use 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of coffee per 2 tablespoons water.

Yes you can. I have done it a few times when I have run out of filters. I do try to make it the same shape as the coffee filter is. Give it a try - can't hurt!

I left my coffee maker on today. Is this a problem?

I have a Bunn VPR industrial. I only worked for a little bit today and left the office. I think I might have left the coffee pot on with a full pot below. I do not believe there is an automatic shut off. Is this that big of problem. I will be back in the office monday morning. Should I make the long haul back to turn it off. We have never had a problem before.

How do you convert an automatic drip coffee brewer to an pour over?

I have a automatic drip air pot coffee maker, but I don't want to hook it up to plumbing. Can I just run a hose from something like water bottle into the water inlet still have it work?

It's possible, but no practical.It would be more problem to do than installing to water line. And do you know what a pain it is to keep adding water. You can get a water line for a automatic ice maker for a fridge, and install that. Its easy. Good luck.
