When you use 6 cup espresso maker, do you have to make 6 cups or you can make less?

I'm thinking about purchasing Bialetti 6800 Moka Express 6-Cup Stovetop Espresso Maker.
I'm sorry if it's a silly question, but I had never used espresso maker and I'm wondering if you use 6 cup-maker you have to make 6 cups or you can make less when I don't need that much.
Another question, my stove is electric range and I read somebody complaining about the hand can melt if you're not careful. Is there any other drawbacks?

No, you don't have to make a full 6 cup brew, but you shouldn't go much under about half of the maximum capacity.
You can use an Electric range for the BIALETTI but try keeping it on the smallest coil. The handle shouldn't melt.
I have been using the BIALETTI off and on for a few years but have always been disappointed in the brew.
